Chapter 1

Where?

“You are NOT the sum of your parts…”

Echo could remember the feeling of a rumble, then shaking, and then darkness.

He felt the sudden sensation of sliding over a neon blue light. It took but a moment.

Within the processor it felt like a joyful boat ride, light swaying.

It was like it had attempted to lull him to sleep.

A series of questions that was asked to his internal design specs, and then external.

What was it doing? Where was he?

All he remembered was a white haired woman, and a few people with bright lettering on their jackets.

What happened?

What…happened?

What…

Happened…?

A sudden sensation of falling welcomed him, his body jerked and he felt a splash.

The scent of oil welcomed him as he walked to the side and rubbed the oil from his optics.

Echo's optics opened, they swiveled over the ceiling, bright fluorescent lighting welcomed him, obviously not the usual rafters covered with sleeping seagulls.

No this was definitely not the lighthouse at all.

He got out of the oil vat and looked around the room.

There were conveyor belts, and machinery making cars, computers, was that a…boat? He could use that to get home.

He stood up and walked over to the boat and then realized he couldn’t drive a boat without water.

This was getting to be a bit annoying. He turned, hearing the door open.

He decided it might be a good idea to remain hidden.

“And there was a slight anomaly in the readings, correct? Just like the ones from three years ago?”

The man was propelling himself forward upon wheels.

Actually it looked fun, Echo wondered if he could have a turn.

“I don’t see anything. Are you sure?” He looked up at Pixal who nodded her head. “It is as I said father…”

“Alright, do a deep scan of the room, we don’t want anything more coming from this building.

The overlord was more than enough for me.” He turned around to see Pixal looking down at the floor.

She turned to look at the vat of oil, and then toward a pillar. Borg looked down at the floor and realized there were footprints.

“Oh my…”

“Indeed…” Pixal said as she tapped her visual cortex to show the camera from the other side of the pillar.

“It would seem to be a new nindroid. He looks…like Zane.” She looked at Borg.

Sadly the security feed was black and white…or they would notice the bronze color and the mismatched eye colors.

Echo slowly backed away, things were entirely too quiet.

The side door opened and he ran.

The two guys that were carrying more supplies were knocked over and the tub of nuts and bolts hit the ground.

The clattering noise made people come running to help. Echo ran out and down the hallway.

“He’s gone down the hallway.” Pixal told Borg.

“Mmm yes, and getting oil all over my carpet.

Might as well call the carpet cleaning team and have them follow him.

In the meantime…summon the ninja…and lock us down.

We don’t know who or why this nindroid was here. My luck, he’s uploaded a virus.”

Zane didn’t mind cooking duty really, although he did miss eating it.

This body he didn’t really need to consume anything except oil, and lubricant.

He sat back with a small mug on his knee waiting for the rice to finish.

The curry sat on the stove, Lloyd came in not too long ago to ask how long it would be.

They were having a game contest in the tv room again.

Which also meant that Lloyd would have to get them to clean up after themselves again.

The same old song and dance.

The picture in the corner of Zanes' vision popped in.

He smiled at the face, he had grown so used to seeing.

“Good evening Pixal.” He greeted her.

They would often have internal conversations when they were bored.

“Zane forgo the pleasantries, we have an emergency at Borg tower.

It would seem someone hacked into our networks and created a new…you.”

Zane gasped as he looked up at Lloyd as he heard the panicked and rushed voice of Pixal from the tv room.

Which was saying something since the tv was loud.

“Me!”

”Zane?”
